Although I was born and raised in Downingtown and for the past twenty years have taught in the Downingtown Area School District, I chose to raise my family in the Coatesville Area School District. I made this choice mainly due to my experience teaching 3rd grade at Benner Elementary school in CASD. I am proud of the diversity that Coatesville offers and the education my children receive.
I live in East Fallowfield, region 3, with my husband, three kids, and two dogs. My children attend school at Caln Elementary, Scott Middle School, and the 11/12. We are all actively involved in many sports and activities throughout the district and volunteer our time to various booster and PTA clubs and events. I am also actively involved in Downingtown Area School District, where I am passionate about education and have been teaching at the elementary level for 23 years.
I feel strongly that Coatesville Area School District has the ability to offer my children an excellent education. But to achieve this, we need strong knowledgeable leaders on our School Board and a dedicated, honest, pragmatic superintendent. That is why I have joined CCAP, because of my desire to improve our district: to hold our decision makers accountable and to help our district achieve success in all areas. I attend the majority of the School Board meetings to stay informed and connected to our School Board members and our Superintendent. It is my hope, that with continued community involvement, our school board can make the necessary changes, and we can achieve great success in CASD.
Katie’s background in education and her passion for teaching has made her CCAP’s liaison between us and CATA. We want the community to also be able to hear from the teachers so that they will not be silenced any longer. Katie is a vital part of this team and what we are trying to do within the community. Her relationships in the community and with the teachers makes her an asset who knows what experiences are within our district in comparison with our closest neighboring district.
