Unify Coatesville

Happy New Year Coatesville Community!  We hope that you had a wonderful holiday and are thoroughly enjoying this season.   There is a lot to be thankful for walking into the New Year and, although we have some major concerns with the financial state of our district, we are also excited to see what great changes we can implement in our district as well.

Coatesville consists of some pretty remarkable community leaders.  Each leader has his/her unique ability to educate different audiences. What if we were to put a group of those leaders together? This past Monday we did just that. We gathered together and discussed how we could all make a bigger impact in our community.  We know that working together will be most effective so we have come together with the same mission and goal:

In order to unify Coatesville, we must become more informed. We must understand how our tax dollars are being spent, acknowledge the root of our situation, and take a good hard look at what we (the stakeholders) have stopped fighting for. A respectful dialogue must take place so that we can work together for our community.  

 

Unify Coatesville will tackle the complex topic of school funding at our first community discussion: "Tax Talk.” This will be a chance to become more informed about where your taxes are actually spent and how we can all unify to enact change. 

Please try to attend one of our sessions so you can be part of the discussion!  These "Tax Talks" will take place on 
January 21st at 7pm,  
January 25th at 10am, and
January 27th at 7pm.  
The locations will be confirmed and announced soon.   

CCAP will blog about taxes and the interconnected changes necessary in CASD throughout January.  We know that there are many facets that have played into our financial instability. However, all must understand the serious flaws with how Charter School funding is appropriated at the state level. 

We would love to hear what you would like explained in more depth at the meetings.

We know that it is also imperative to build a stronger tax base. One upcoming event centered on that direction is a community meeting hosted by KNGDM Impact being held on January 9th at 5:30.
